Who is responsible

The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the operator named in the legal notice:

Server logs

When you open a page, your browser sends technical data that our server records in log files: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system, and the response status. We use it only to deliver the site, find errors and fend off attacks, and delete it after 14 days. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a secure, working website.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Contabo GmbH, Aschauer Straße 32a, 81549 München, Germany, which processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).

Pages and images are delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, a content delivery network that protects the site and makes it faster. It processes your IP address and the technical data above on our behalf. Where data is transferred outside the EU, the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU standard contractual clauses.

Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)

If you accept in the banner, we use Google Analytics 4 from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to count page views and see how the site is used. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_…, kept for up to 2 years) and processes your IP address, information about your device and browser, and the pages you open. We have turned off Google signals and advertising features. Google keeps the data for 14 months. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive). Without your consent, Google Analytics is not loaded at all.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; the Google Analytics cookies are then deleted.

Browser storage

When you choose a country, change the usage or add models to compare, your browser remembers it in its local storage (entries starting with “wattabill.”), so the next page shows the same choice. It is never sent to us, and you can delete it at any time in your browser settings. This storage is strictly necessary for the function you asked for (Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive), so it needs no consent.

Search

What you type into the search box is sent to our server to find matching models. We do not keep search terms beyond the server logs. To protect the server from overload, search suggestions are counted per IP address for one minute.

Links to other websites

Product pages link to the official EU energy label and product information sheet in EPREL, and other pages link to Eurostat and the European Environment Agency. When you follow a link, the other website’s privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Write to us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work.

Changes

If we add a feature that processes more data, such as visitor statistics, we will update this page first.
